Brief info

Celebrity Couture Designer Sonia Eté comes from an accomplished educational background, with a Bachelor of Theology Degree and a Master of Education from the California Bible College and Seminary as well as degrees in Haute Couture Fashion Design and Pattern Making from L'Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de La Mode, (ESMOD, France). While Eté was in Paris, she became one of nine Creative Designers selected by ‘SAGA Fur International’ of Copenhagen, Denmark, study the art and culture of Fur Fashion, a field spanning all the Production Techniques for Fur garments, and the techniques for transforming to Faux Fur.

Eté attended the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to study Rendering and Designing Jewelry. She also studied design at Kuk Jae Fashion Institute in Korea, and Industrial Graphic Art and Fine Art at Myungji Junior College, Seoul, Korea. She later attended USA Theology College to become an Educational Missionary.

While attending ESMOD Paris, Eté worked with the French Master Embroidery Designer, François Lesage, owner of the world-renowned Embroidery House for Channel, Valentino, Yve Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Christian Lacroix, and who received the highest French order of merit distinction, the Légion d'Honneur, from the French Government.

While working at House of Lesage, she learned Fine Embellishment Techniques and Structural Sewing Details of Haute Couture, and she was also privileged to work intimately as an assistant to Couturier Designers Christian Lacroix and Azzedine Alaïa. She also had the privilege of designing the wedding gown of a Saudi Arabian Princess in Paris.

In England, she launched a worldwide licensing collection for the museum of London Underground at the London Fashion Week.

With her training as a designer and gemologist, she created jewelry designs for Harry Winston’s Saudi Arabian Prince private client. Prior to studying Haute Couture Fashion in Paris, Eté Owned Eleven Diamond & Precious Jewelry Stores, Managing, Producing, and Designing for many Celebrity & High-profile Clients. Her stores were located throughout the State of California.

She has received numerous awards, including the Bob Mackie Scholarship Awards for 'Most Creative and Original,' a Debut Mattel France pour Barbie, an awards piece chosen for the soap company’s slogan ‘Caress before Dress.' Apart from running a National TV Campaign, many prestigious media houses, the New York Fashion Week, and Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show have all featured Eté’s work.

Working with Entertainer Ed McMahon and Pam McMahon, Eté created the clothing collection ‘Pam McMahon,' the Eté’s special line of Pet Accessories ‘Fashion Paws’ and developed a high-end brand ‘Tag less’ ID Pet Collars for Nieman Marcus and the National High-end Market.

Her extraordinary professional journey as a Couturier Celebrity Designer has seen her designing and constructing ensembles for celebrities Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Stallone, Aaron and Candy Spelling, American Idol/Paula Abdul, Blondie, Coolio, Chris Brown, Sammy Sam/Public Enemy, Stevie Wonder, Sophia Wonder, Nick Cannon, lead designer for Tisha Campbell-Martin’s music video “Steel Here”, Asha Puthli/Austria at Weiner Konzerthaus debuting in Vienna, Austria, King Washington Band, Marisela (the Latin Madonna), Opera Winfrey Network LOVE IS/Tammy Townsend, The Emmy Awards Winner/Tracey Bregman, The Emmy Awards Winner The Bay/ Lilly Melgar, Beverly Todd, Tracy Danza, Empire/AzMarie Livingstone, Blanca Blanco, Sophie Evans, DJ Collen Shannon, Elenora Pieroni, Tia Barr, Miami Vice/Vicky-Lee Valentino, Vincent De Paul and for the Wedding of Weston Cage Coppola & Hila Cage son of Nicolas Cage, as well as outfits for Play Boy Mansion/Hugh Hefner’s Girlfriends, and First Lady/Melania Trump.

Eté’s Red Carpet gowns have been worn at the Academy Awards, the Emmy Awards, the Golden Globe, the Grammys, the Family Awards, BET Awards, the Music Awards, Ciné Moi, and by actresses and performers.

Eté was the Official Couture Designer for the reality shows “Rica, Famosa, Latina – Real Housewives”, and “Babe Method - The Experience”, lead designer for Tisha Campbell-Martin’s music video “Steel Here”, and Creative Director for seven-time Grammy Winner Malik Yusef (Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label), a Music Producer for Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Rihanna.

Eté was Advisory Board Member of Fashion Group International Los Angeles. Currently, she is the International Goodwill Ambassador for Federal Association at the Advancement for Visible Minorities; the Fashion Ambassador for Reel Focus, Australia, and Fashion Week. She recently accepted the position of Vice-President for “Women Empower U.S.”, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping women in hardship all over the world, to retrieve dignity, independence, and productivity.

Eté is a member of the 3.5 Million membership The World of Chinese Association, and The Asia Cultural and Arts Foundation of the United States.

Eté is the President and Founder of ‘Beverly Hills Design Institute’, ‘Sonia Eté Foundation and ‘Beverly Hills Couture Art Fashion Week,' with the missions of generating a Movement, through education, of High Aesthetic Fashion combined with the Essence of the Hollywood Entertainment Industry.

Recognizing the need for Couture Education in the United States, Eté brought French Couture education to Beverly Hills by founding the reputable Beverly Hills Design Institute offering A.A. & B.A. Fashion Degree programs that specialize in fashion design and pattern making and to fill up the gap in U.S. fashion education and train fashion professionals that are actually relevant to the worldwide fashion industry. Through her expertise in the Luxury Fashion industry and knowledge from study broad, she has developed a method and a mission to continue the Legend of Haute Couture through training Young Creators in developing a couture eye, a business mind, and the power to dress the stars. Several Celebrity daughters, one being Tiffany Trump (Daughter of Donald Trump), came to learn at Beverly Hills Design Institute.

Her Mission is to offer her life time achievement Fashion and pattern Intellectual property to African countries to create jobs and develop high skills through fashion education. The ultimate aim is to build the biggest Fashion Consumer Market in the World. Furthermore, her passion is to dedicate herself to help women in hardship from all over the world, to retrieve their human dignity, independence, and productivity.
